2020 – On 24 August 2020, INM becomes member of the Secondary Standards Dosimetry Laboratories Network of the International Atomic Energy Agency and World Health Organization IAEA/WHO SSDL.

2019

The Republic of Moldova becomes Full Member of EURAMET

2018

The redefinition of four out of seven SI base units is voted  – the kilogram, the ampere, the kelvin and the mole

2017

The Republic of Moldova becomes Associated Member of the Cooperation of National Metrology Institutes in Europe (EURAMET)
The Republic of Moldova becomes Associated Member of the European Cooperation in Legal Metrology (WELMEC)

2013

The "National Institute of Metrology" is founded as a public institution, with attributions in the field of legal metrology and management of the National Measurement Standards Base 

2007

The Republic of Moldova signs the "Mutual Recognition Arrangement of national reference measurement standards and calibration and measurement certificates issued by National Metrology Institutes (CIPM MRA)”

2005

The "Department of Standardization and Metrology" becomes the "Service of Standardization and Metrology" 
The Republic of Moldova adheres to the General Conference of Weights and Measures (CGPM) of the International Metrology Organization "Metre Convention" as Associated Member

2002

CNSMC is reorganized into the "National Institute of Standardization and Metrology" (INSM)

2001

The "State Department of Standardization, Metrology and Technical Surveillance" is reorganized into the "Department of Standardization and Metrology" 

1998

The "Center of Standardization and Metrology" becomes the "National Center of Standardization, Metrology and Certification" (CNSMC)

1997

The Republic of Moldova adheres to the Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrology Institutes (COOMET)

1995

The Republic of Moldova adheres to the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) as Correspondent Member 

1992

The "State Department of Standards, Metrology and Technical Surveillance" is created. The State Enterprise " Center of Standardization and Metrology of Moldova" is registered, founded by the "State Department for Standards and Metrology of the Republic of Moldova"
The Republic of Moldova becomes Founding Member of the Euro-Asian Council of Standardization, Metrology and Certification" (EASC)

1977

The "Center of Standardization and Metrology of Moldova" is created

URSS adopts SI (GOST 9867-61)

1961

Romania adopts SI

1960

The XI General Conference of Weights and Measures, taking into account the CIPM recommendations, renames the "Pracical System of Units" into the "International System of Units" 

1955

The "Moldovan Republican Laboratory for Control of Standards and Measuring Instruments" is created 

1954

The X General Conference of Weights and Measures (CGPM), taking into account its decission from 1948, adopts the base units of the "Practical System of Units”

1883

Romania adheres to the "Metre Convention"
