”Temperature and Humidity Measurements” Laboratory

The ”Temperature and Humidity Measurements” Laboratory manages – undertakes, preserves and disseminates through modern equipment the measurement unit of temperature. The Laboratory is responsible for maintenance and development of national measurement standards in the area of temperature, thermophysics and humidity.

Main objectives of the laboratory are:

  • Assurance of uniformity, accuracy and traceability of measurement units of temperature and humidity in the Republic of Moldova.
  • Management, maintenance, storage, preservance of measurement standards and of the equipment owned by the laboratory.
  • Participation in international interlaboratory comparisons to demonstrate the equivallence of the measurement unit realized in the Republic of Moldova and the one preserved by international measurement standards.
  • Development of calibration procedures based on international best practices.
  • Dissemination of measurement units, at the required accuracy level, through calibration services with results traceable to SI.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of the quality management in the laboratory.

National and reference measurement standards

The Laboratory owns 1 declared national measurement standard and intends to develop 2 more.

National measurement standard of temperature unit ETN 02 - 12:

It shall develop 2 more measurement standards:

National measurement standard of absolute humidity, relative humidity and of dew point:

Reference measurement standard of contactless thermometry:

Measurement capabilities and provided services

The ”Temperature and Humidity Measurements” Laboratory provides a wide range of services to the consumer.

The demonstration of the laboratory measurement capabilities is realized by:

- CMC lines in the field of temperature, http://kcdb.bipm.org/appendixC/T/MD/T_MD.pdf

- Accreditation in humidity area, certificate of accreditation no. LE-002.

The activity of the laboratory is focused on calibration of measuring instruments, ensuring the uncertainty showed in the table below.

Also, the laboratory provides  trainings focused on correct performance of measurements and determination of their conventional values by applying correction factors and using measurement uncertainty. The training courses are offered in all subfields of the ”Temperature and Humitiy Measurements” Laboratory.
