Since the signing by the Republic of Moldova of the Association Agreement with the European Union, the direction of development of the National Institute of Metrology and its orientation towards the European norms and principles became very clear.
Thus, INM started, step by step, the aligning of the national metrology system to the European one. After adhering to the European Metrology Organization EURAMET as an associated member in 2017, INM, demonstrating its institutional capabilities and competences, fulfilled in 2019 all the criteria for becoming a full member of EURAMET, and this is what happened in May this year, when all EURAMET members voted unanimously for giving this status to the National Institute of Metrology of the Republic of Moldova.
And for the complete integration of national metrology in the European system, INM transferred to EURAMET all its future activities related to the mutual recognition of national measurement standards and of calibration certificates issued by National Metrology Institutes (CIPM MRA), fact which was confirmed yesterday, 17.07.2019, by the Director of the International Bureau for Weights and Measures (BIPM), Dr. Martin J.T. Milton.
